Welcome to Winnipeg for the Registered Psychiatric Nurses
of Canada's sixth World Congress for Psychiatric Nurses.
Governments, service providers and the public agree that
promoting positive mental health, preventing mental illness
where possible, and providing a range of recovery based
mental health services and supports are priorities.
Exchanging knowledge with your colleagues from across the
country strengthens your skills and fortifies the teamwork
necessary for an effective, efficient health care system.
Through the professionalism and expertise of Canada's
psychiatric nurses, we are making important progress in both
health promotion and in supporting people with mental health
problems and illnesses in their recovery. Your contributions
to both are helping to enlighten the public about mental
health issues. Your work helps promote awareness of the
importance of positive mental health, as well as the need
for accessible treatment. The work you do, and how you do
it, also highlights the importance of promoting inclusion of
people with mental health problems and illnesses and their
families.
We encourage you to enjoy your stay in our province and
continue your good work. You are making a positive
difference in the lives of a great many people who benefit
from your dedication and expertise.
